The Google Art Project has just been released and it’s amazing to see this powerful tool in action. Using the same technology as Google Street view, it takes internet users through 17 of the world’s top galleries including MoMA NYC to the Uffizi in Florence.
As with Street View, you simply navigate your way through the museum with your mouse, giving users have access to thousands of artworks. Not only can you take a virtual stroll thourgh the worlds museums, but you can also zoom in on the artwork at an astonishingly hi-res 7 billion pixels. Check out those brush strokes in the screen grabs for yourself. Simply amazing Google.
